It’s hard to adjust to the real world after a Disney World vacation. When you’re at Disney World, everything is great. Everything is grand. You’ve got the whole wide world in the palm of your hand (it’s true – just pick up something from Epcot!). Life’s a happy song when you’re at Disney World.
When Disney released Muppets Most Wanted, they presented an opportunity to enjoy the art of animation without paying for another flight to Orlando. I went to the theatre with high hopes, as I really liked the first film and its soundtrack, but I left feeling disappointed. At least the opening song of Muppets Most Wanted acknowledges “the sequel’s never quite as good.” That’s the only track worth downloading.
Animated film scripts tend to include a few jokes written for older audiences, but Muppets Most Wanted has a different approach to entertaining parents. Disney effectively charms older audiences by casting older Hollywood stars, without alienating young viewers through jokes kids can’t fully appreciate. The seemingly endless list of cameos, which includes appearances from Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and Salma Hayek, proves there are many famous kids at heart. Product placements arguably have a starring role too. For example, James McAvoy makes an appearance as a UPS guy. The character is barely worth mentioning compared to the UPS guy in Legally Blonde, but his recognizable brown uniform is easy to spot. SUBWAY is much more integral to the plot. When guacamole falls out of Fozzie Bear’s sandwich and onto a picture of Constantine, he immediately realizes that Constantine is pretending to be Kermit. If Fozzie Bear ate something else for lunch, then Muppets Most Wanted would have a different ending!
Craving a SUBWAY sandwich now? Buy a Muppets-themed gift card to pay for your order. Then take your sub home and watch The Muppets (2011) on Disney Movies Anywhere. To keep the fun going after the credits roll, crank up the soundtrack and turn your movie night into a dance party! Or play it in the background while you research travel itineraries so you can see Kermit and Miss Piggy at Disney World.
