What To Expect From The Disney On Broadway Tour

Whenever I’m in New York, I always go to the Disney Store in Times Square, so it’s unsurprising that I booked tickets to the Disney on Broadway tour. The tour has been on my radar for a few years and the timing finally worked out on my last trip.

We stayed in the Theater District, so the meeting place for the tour was steps away from our hotel. It was nice to go on the tour with my mom because we saw The Lion King musical together.

The tour is split in 2 parts: walking around Times Square and then visiting Disney’s New Amsterdam Theatre. I wish we spent more time at the theatre and less time on the street. We heard general information about how Times Square has evolved, whereas I was more interested in Disney. I enjoyed hearing about how Walt Disney approached Julie Andrews to star in Mary Poppins after seeing her in Camelot at the Majestic Theatre, but I could find most facts online.

Raise Your Glass To Pink

Now I’ve officially seen every performer on my must-see list! Watching Pink on award shows convinced me she would be amazing and her Beautiful Trauma World Tour was even better than I imagined.

Between the costumes, acrobatics, dancing and special effects, it was a magical show and she performed for 2 hours! Not only did Pink wear red pants, but she also performed right in front of me and flew over my head, so we almost made eye contact.

Book Review: Love At First Like

While following Hannah Orenstein on social media, I’ve watched her become a published author, in a totally non-creepy way. Once I received an advance copy of her second novel, Love At First Like, I finally understood her success. It’s because her writing is incredible. Unfortunately, it took me a long time to truly get it because I’ve spent too much time on Instagram and not enough time reading books.

Now Hannah has a new novel about how Instagram has changed our society, so it’s perfect for me! Love At First Like gives new meaning to “doing it for the ‘gram”.

Concert Review: lovelytheband

Are you sure the guys from lovelytheband aren’t Canadian? They seem so humble, laidback and appreciative of their fans. They could blend in with Canadian artists for sure. I hear they like poutine.

Vocalist Mitchy Collins just broke his arm and he led a major show last night like it was no big deal. Sure, he drank some vodka to ease the pain, but nobody cared. In fact, the crowd chanted for him to chug it. “Pain is like heartbreak, you’ve got to drink your way through it,” he said.

Lovelytheband seemed to enjoy performing in Toronto as much as their fans loved watching them. “It’s Thursday night, but you’re giving us Friday night energy.” Mitchy said the band spent the afternoon on a racetrack, but playing music was even more exciting. When he congratulated the Raptors on winning the championship, he announced, “I was rooting for you since day one!”

What’s Next After Booksmart?

I went to Western University (the one recognized by Playboy) and I didn’t party much. I think about this all the time and even more so now that Olivia Wilde released her directorial debut, Booksmart. Now I regret it!

Some of my favourite female celebrities like Busy Phillips and Lena Dunham endorsed Booksmart and now I understand why. It’s a great movie about female friendship and coming of age after high school. It’s filled with good music, good laughs and good lines.
