Concert Review: Tegan and Sara

In high school, I did a presentation for my media class (i.e. my favourite class) about alternative music and I spent lots of time trying to find an image of One Tree Hill’s Peyton Sawyer wearing a Tegan and Sara t-shirt. I don’t remember if that’s the show that introduced me to them, but regardless of how I discovered the Canadian twins, I’m glad I did.

I was relieved when I was finally able to buy a ticket to see them live in Toronto. Massey Hall turned out to be an incredible venue and I felt like I had the best seat in the house (on the aisle, in the third row of the first balcony). I swear I had a better view than when I’ve had floor seats at the Air Canada Centre.

A Vision In White

white-cashmere-collection-2016

My Instagram feed has been filled with runway shots taken around the world, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to watch a live fashion show in Toronto. The White Cashmere Collection is based on an extraordinary concept: raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation while showcasing how Canadian designers can create couture using bathroom tissue. The team at Kruger Products and their partners executed it seamlessly and it was such a fun way to spend a weekday morning.

Dan Levy Launches Gap X GQ Collection

Sarah Prince and Dan Levy

Once I became a fan of the hosts of MTV’s The Hills: After Show, there was no going back. Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank now work for CBC and they’re both integral members of Toronto’s cultural scene.

When I heard that Dan was going to host a menswear launch party at the Gap store on Bloor St., I immediately RSVP’d. Once there, he recognized me from his eyewear party at Jonathan and Olivia, so it wasn’t awkward. He told me that he’s hosted this event 3 years in a row and he’s been working towards it ever since he worked for Gap as a salesman before he was famous.

Hot Trend: Layering On Top Of White T-Shirts

When a Kardashian or Jenner wears something, everyone notices. Myself included.

So after watching an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians this summer where Kourtney layered a silk tank over a white t-shirt, I decided to try something similar with my own wardrobe. The plaid yellow and navy tank (pictured below) has been in my room unworn for too long and now that’s about to change.

I’ve always been a fan of layering and now that following Kourtney’s lead will let me wear something I’ve always liked yet didn’t fit properly, I’m into this new trend. Upon further research, I realized that Kourtney’s been spotted doing this more than once and Kylie is a fan too, as well as North. They’ve actually layered slip dresses over white tees and tanks.

This is a simple trick that’s easy to execute with a low budget, so I’m all in!

How To Make The SIM Swap With Public Mobile

Hot On The Street - Public Mobile

Adulting is hard work. I graduated from Western 3 years ago, but paying the bills doesn’t get any easier. Between OSAP and credit cards, it isn’t fun. I’m too broke to commit to any real estate, let alone an expensive monthly cell phone plan. That’s why the idea of not being tied down to a contract is appealing – more freedom, less legal jargon and less headaches.

Public Mobile has launched a new campaign called “SIM Swap” that offers Canadians a free useful SIM card in exchange for a useless item. So before you toss out that coffee cup, read on to find out how you can participate.
