I can’t believe my American tour of Madame Tussauds is almost over! My trip to Nashville marked 5/6 American locations and I’m also looking forward to visiting the original in London, England someday.
Nashville has the only themed museum that focuses on music. I saw some of the best musicians like Elton John, Bruno Mars, Blake Shelton and more. It also features some stars of the TV show Nashville, so it’s the only place you’ll see Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights!
Madame Tussauds Nashville was special because I got a behind the scenes tour with the manager and it’s the only location where it’s available. We met inside the museum and she took me behind closed doors to see where the magic happens. She even showed me a wax figure that no one else has seen before! I can’t say who it is, but music fans will love it.
Olivia the manager was lovely and answered all my questions about Madame Tussauds. In addition to sets and lighting, she does minor touch ups in Nashville and has an art studio unlike anything I’ve ever seen! Here are the highlights of our conversation:
London
The Madame Tussauds head office determines who’s hot in pop culture, then they reach out to the celebrities and most say they’re interested in collaborating. Celebrities fly to London for measurements and all the wax figures are made in London then shipped worldwide. The head office also coordinates the rotation of wax figures and decides who to put in each city.
Fashion
Celebrities pick their own clothes for their wax figure and donate costumes, such as from concerts or award shows. Keep in mind that it’s tricky to dress a mannequin that can’t move its body. The team likes to capture a moment in time when the celebrity looked their best and/or had an iconic performance. Apparently, it takes up to 6 weeks to recreate someone’s hair!
Fame
Beyonce is one of the most universally popular stars who fans like to see. Justin Bieber needs an update to make him look like an adult. His haircut and style have definitely changed! American fans love seeing the royal family as much as British fans. I was thrilled when I recently found Harry and Meghan in New York a few hours before I met Paris Hilton! She was the first celebrity with a wax figure who I met in real life!
As a professional fangirl, I can’t wait to continue my tour in San Francisco and London. It feels good to make progress, visit the best tourist attractions and visit my friends along the way!
Plan your visit to Madame Tussuads and find out who you can see next!
