Can you believe I never went to Comicon until now? I love pop culture, but I was never interested in the celebrity guests at Toronto Comicon until this year. When I was on vacation in Miami, I was at Café Bastille and opened my phone at the right time to see an ad. Scott Patterson and Sean Gunn from Gilmore Girls were coming to Toronto, so of course I had to go! I saved the ad and bought a ticket when I returned home.
The timing is interesting because I saw Paris Hilton at MuchMusic in 2005 and 2 of her costars from House Of Wax appeared in Gilmore Girls. Fast forward 18 years (a lucky number!), I saw Paris Hilton and 2 more male stars from Gilmore Girls in the same week!
Sean Gunn played Kirk, one of the most likeable and quirky townspeople in Stars Hollow. You never knew where he would pop up or in what occupation! He made the small town seem so authentic and real.
You may have also seen Sean Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the biggest franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
I managed to sneak in a quick interview about Cameo when I bought a photo op with Sean Gunn. I’ve been a fan of Cameo since it launched and ordered amazing birthday videos from James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) and Robert Christopher Riley (Dynasty). This was the first time I ever got a celebrity’s perspective!
I asked Sean about filming Cameo videos versus meeting fans in person at events like Comicon. We agreed that in person meet and greets are better, but sometimes it’s impossible. Sean said that it’s easier to know what people want in person, such as a photo or autograph. Keep in mind that Cameo requests have a limited character count.
It was a bit noisy at Comicon, but I’m thrilled to have this recording from our conversation. Watch!
