The soundtrack for Prince: The Immersive Experience distinguishes it from all other Instagram museums. This is the best place to listen to an iconic musician while you learn about his life!
When I planned my first trip to Chicago, I got the best targeted Facebook ad ever. Obviously, I had to go to the Prince exhibit! It’s centrally located on the Magnificent Mile and it’s near the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which is another must-see.
I’ve listened to all of Prince’s hits, watched him guest star on New Girl and created my own Halloween costume to look like Prince. However, I didn’t know much about him, so this was a fun experience.
The first room is inspired by the music video for When Doves Cry. Then you’ll see a replica of the recording studio Prince had in his house. Ride a motorcycle like you’re starring in Purple Rain and imagine you’re on the set of the Diamonds and Pearls music video.
You can dance to loud music as if you’re in a club and read all kinds of Prince quotes on the walls. I liked seeing his tour costumes and a selection of his wardrobe, including clothes, shoes and sunglasses.
I was happy to see they had coat check because who wants to carry around a jacket and a camera? Feel free to attend on your own as staff are available to take pictures for you.
What’s really missing from Prince: The Immersive Experience is a Prince figurine that you could stand next to. They should have borrowed it from Madame Tussauds! There are tons of great photo ops, but if you want one with Prince, you’d have to stand in front of a picture of him on the wall, which seems silly. I wish someone would hire me to plan an Instagram museum because I have so many thoughts!
