Happy Birthday Tim Hortons

TIM HORTONS - Tim Hortons recreates 1964 at Yonge-Dundas Square

“It’s like Mad Men around here.”

Even though Tim Hortons never had a chance to work with Don Draper, they’ve done quite well in the last 50 years. According to Marketel, Tim Hortons is Canadian women’s favourite brand and it ranks high on my list too.

To celebrate its 50th birthday, Tim Hortons threw a huge bash at Yonge & Dundas Square today. Actors wearing vintage garments created a vibrant scene set in the 60s, featuring parents with a baby carriage and a police officer who was delighted to put people in his black and white cop car. They put on quite a show and a caffeinated audience ‘ate it up,’ as my grandmother likes to say.

Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Opens Up Shop Again

Just caught up on Mad Men‘s season five premiere and I’m excited to see what creator Matt Weiner and team have in store for fans in the next few months. Joan needs to return to the office HQ for longer than a social visit and Megan should find a job better suited for her than climbing the career ladder behind Peggy.

Mad Men’s Kiernan Shikpka Plays Child Therapist

Kiernan Shikpka’s character, Sally Draper, on Mad Men was sent to see a child psychologist because her mother disapproved of her behaviour. During the actress’ time off from filming one of the best shows on TV, Shipka filmed this video, in which she helps delusional child stars with their personal issues.

She nails all the quirks and body language of a stereotypical therapist, and her wardrobe embodies the same level of sophistication that inspired a partnership between Mad Men and Banana Republic. Watch out, Christina Hendricks and January Jones!

It seems that she’s on her way to becoming the next Dakota Fanning – featured in fashion magazines such as ELLE and the like, but if all else fails, perhaps she could host her own self-help or talk show.

When season five of Mad Men premieres on March 16, 2012, we can find out how Sally will react to Don’s engagement.

In the meantime, feel free to ‘Mad Men Yourself’.
