Ashley Madison Doesn’t Belong in Meme Generators

The latest campaign for the website designed for cheaters proves why “kindness” is not in their mission statement.

This may not be a sizzling hot story anymore, but it left its mark in print and online and I for one am even more appalled by Ashley Madison as a result.

Adultery with someone of any gender or size is not a case of ‘everything bad is good for you’ (a book that’s on my to-read list, thanks to curiosity and a friend’s recommendation), not even in moderation.

Promoting infidelity makes Ashley Madison a deplorable company of questionable morals and I know I am not alone in saying so. That there are enough unfaithful people to support Ashley Madison’s business model is a real shame in itself. Their latest advertisement, which promotes their already disgraceful business, while creating a hurdle for fat acceptance, is even more deplorable. The print ad implies that men should ditch their overweight or obese wives for a scantily clad thin seductress instead.

Ashley Madison’s advertisement raises several issues about pornography, sex, stereotypes and beauty, which you can consider while reading message boards (yes, those still exist) where people express their outrage.

2011 Glamour’s 21st Annual Women of the Year Awards

As one of the most influential women in media, Arianna is a woman to learn from.

Listen to her eloquently speak about how failure is not the opposite of success, but rather, “failure is just a stepping stone to success.”

“Usually you go to events and they suck, but this one meant so much,” Stone told WWD. “Arianna had one of the greatest speeches about success and failure. I felt so connected to her.”

Art history aficionados will also appreciate Arianna’s comments directed at the reknowned Cindy Sherman, whose work deserves to be celebrated as well.

Other award winning women at the event were comedian Chelsea Handler and actress Lea Michele, as well as Gloria Steinem, who took home the Lifetime Achievement Award.

If you see Arianna Huffington listed under “People to Subscribe to” in your Facebook sidebar, perhaps now you’ll better understand why that’d be a good call.

I’ve heard about research studies suggesting to unplug from gadgets 1 hour prior to bed to help clear your head of distractions and ease the falling to sleep process. Well, before you close your laptop tonight, watch this video.

This book might just be the best book for the technologically savvy iPad-toting parent who already knows what to expect when you’re expecting. And if you’re childless, pick it up as a coffee table book anyway – it can be a conversation piece when you’re entertaining guests and they look up from their phones to notice your decor.
