Häagen-Dazs Pops Up In Toronto

Haagen Dazs Toronto - Prince ice cream

Happy National Ice Cream Day!

Lately, I’ve preferred milkshakes, but I’ll never say no to an ice cream run. The best ice cream I’ve had recently was a royal treat with my last name on it. I recommend heading over to the new Häagen-Dazs pop-up shop to order your own custom ice cream bar.

Bär Häagen-Dazs sells many cold items, but how could you say no to a snack that literally has your name written all over it? Once you’re inside, you can choose your flavour. Then a talented staff member will decorate and customize an ice cream bar just for you. After she put my name with a heart on top, I requested the crown. The final product looked amazing!

Happy Canada Day!

Leading up to Canada’s 150th birthday, the Intercontinental Hotels Group asked Canadians to reveal and share their favourite destinations across the country. On Wednesday night, they revealed the top contenders and the contest winner on the patio of the Intercontinental Yorkville.

The party was hosted by Jennifer Valentyne, who you may know from watching Breakfast Television or listening to Q107. You know I can’t say no to an invitation to meet more Canadian talent! Meeting her was lovely and it was interesting to hear about locations I was unfamiliar with. You know I always plan ahead for Labour Day far in advance (hello, birthday weekend!), and now I will consider going to one of these places next.

Behind The Scenes: Mighty Cruise Ships

Mighty Cruise Ships on Discovery

Mighty Cruise Ships returns to the Discovery Channel tonight for its second season and I had a chance to chat with Executive Producer Karen McCairley. Find out more about the production process below and see which celebrity she wants to travel with in this special Q&A.

How does your show attract and engage with viewers (like myself) who have never been on a cruise?

Mighty Cruise Ships is the only show of its kind in the whole world. We take all the preconceived notions viewers like you may have about cruise ships and set the story straight!

It’s not all big buffets and cheesy lounge singers – we focus on what it takes for the hard working staff aboard each vessel to pull these trips off time and again. We pull back the curtain and focus on the big technology and navigational skill it takes to dock these ships in very interesting and oftentimes difficult ports. We spend time in the engine rooms, bridge, galleys and behind the scenes of the huge mainstage productions that happen aboard these ships.

Put it this way, even the people who work for the cruise lines are oftentimes blown away when they eventually see our shows.

Moving Towards Tomorrow With Toyota

My first ever experience with virtual reality (VR) happened at TIFF 2014 thanks to Ford. They had a cool setup that allowed you to pretend you were shooting a movie in Hollywood while sitting in a new car. The footage of me inside their car still makes me laugh.

As VR continues to become more prevalent, it makes sense that another automotive brand wants to leverage it to connect with drivers. Toyota has created brand galleries at a few Canadian malls to show shoppers the features of their new cars. At the “Towards Tomorrow by Toyota” exhibits, people can use VR to learn about Toyota’s commitment to safety technologies without even going outside. Or, you can take one out for a spin to see for yourself – the choice is yours!
