Building an archive doesn’t happen overnight, especially when your goal is to have a photo for every moment. From dorm rooms and hotel lobbies to Starbucks and theatres, I’ve drafted articles everywhere since 2010. I’m excited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hot On The Street!
I initially created Hot On The Street as a print magazine for a school assignment in grade six. To celebrate 15 years since launching my site, I designed a special edition anniversary issue to print! It features my Top 10 Moments Since 2010 and 5 of my favourite meet and greets with Icons IRL. And of course I had to wear my red jeans again!
As much as I love a good show, I also love returning home to organize my thoughts on my laptop. Sometimes it’s easier for me to write 300 words and then pick the best one-liner rather than force myself to summarize my opinions in a few words on Instagram Stories.
There’s a popular misconception that I love blogging because I can write about whatever I want. That might be true, but I also love writing long-form. Throughout my marketing career, I’ve written short-form content such as social posts, push notifications and email newsletters. I love writing on behalf of my favourite brands, but I also love writing long-form articles, challenging myself to write click-worthy headlines and drive traffic via SEO. That’s why Hot On The Street has been an amazing side hustle.
Since the layoffs at EA, I’ve had time to do a thorough site audit and build my domain authority. Unfortunately, this also meant removing old blog posts. For example, I’m proud of sharing my favourite Super Bowl ads as a media studies student, but many of the old YouTube videos were deleted. My commentary from the early 2010s lost value when the ads referenced became unavailable.

When I saw Mitch Joel interview Bethany Mota at The Art of Marketing conference in 2016, I never anticipated becoming a YouTuber myself. 400K+ views later, I can’t imagine Hot On The Street without a YouTube channel.
YouTube let me realize my dream of becoming a host just like my favourite MuchMusic VJs. Who knew that the hottest stars would chat with me in my kitchen? When I renovated my kitchen, turning it into a podcast studio wasn’t in my wildest dreams. Now it’s the perfect backdrop for me to share rants and host chats. I also posted some insights into how I recruit and choose the best guests for my podcast here.
I’ll always be interested in entertainment and business, so I hope you’ll enjoy how I cover a range of hot topics. Stay tuned for a fun mix of interviews, reviews and rants about stars, brands and trends!
As I celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hot On The Street, I’d really appreciate your support. Follow me on Instagram and YouTube for all the latest updates!
