How Clinique Bare Pop Lipstick Helps Me Shine On Camera

My dermatologist convinced me to switch to Clinique ten years ago and I’ve bought Clinique makeup almost exclusively ever since. I found the right shades and I’m sticking to it because my skin usually looks good!

Worst case scenario, if I get more acne, I can rely on TactuPump Forte to make it disappear. I’m a big fan of my heavy duty prescription acne cream and you can’t convince me to give it up. I never expected my video about it to go viral! Who knew brand name vs. generic skincare is so controversial?

I’m a huge advocate for the five-minute face and I usually walk out the door with concealer and foundation only. However, when I film videos at home and I’m not in a rush, I like to add a little lip colour.

I loved discovering Clinique Bare Pop lipstick as a gift with purchase. Now it’s part of my uniform for filming rants, reviews and embarrassing stories. It’s the perfect pop of colour that doesn’t get stuck in my teeth, which is the most important factor!

When Clinique started offering Black Honey Almost Lipstick instead of my go-to Bare Pop lipstick as the gift with purchase, I bought my first lipstick in years to be consistent. Clinique changed the packaging since I filmed these videos and replaced it with a shiny green tube, which adds to the fun of getting ready. I have started wearing Black Honey occasionally as well, but Bare Pop remains my favourite.

The Clinique Bare Pop lipstick is a brighter, playful pink shade whereas the Black Honey looks more sophisticated, subtle and natural. The price is almost the same – Clinique Pop Longwear Lipstick is $34 and the bestselling Almost Lipstick in Black Honey is $33.

Chapstick and/or clear lip gloss will always be the safest bet. It’s the best choice for special occasions like meet and greets on my bucket list when nothing can go wrong. However, there’s something so fun and joyful about wearing lipstick. When I look back at old photos, I’ve noticed that I used to be more carefree and wear lipstick more often when I was younger. Going forward, I want to find the right balance.

As the economy gets worse, the lipstick index concept stays top of mind. The lipstick index is based on data that buying lipstick can make you feel better by treating yourself to something luxurious yet affordable. If that’s something you’re looking for, I highly recommend the Clinique Bare Pop lipstick.

No red flags or dupes in this review. I love shopping during Clinique’s sales, collecting rewards and earning cash back from Rakuten!
