My third photo op at MEGACON Orlando was with the legendary Molly Ringwald. There were so many mega stars in one place, including Jude Law and Mae Whitman!
When I met Disney characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios the day after MEGACON Orlando, it was a full circle moment. Asking for autographs as a kid in the 90s escalated into a national tour of Madame Tussauds, including Orlando! Then I met actors in real life in the same city this month, plus many other celebrities since then. I wrote my favourite blog post ever before my last trip to Disney World, which outlined my history of becoming a professional fangirl.
Meeting Molly Ringwald was interesting because I studied The Breakfast Club in high school. She reunited with The Breakfast Club cast for a panel to celebrate the movie’s 40th anniversary. Do you feel old yet? Although I haven’t seen her hit movies from the 80s recently, I knew it was a rare opportunity to meet her. I liked watching her play Shailene Woodley’s mom on The Secret Life Of The American Teenager.
I also tried to meet Alicia Silverstone from Clueless. Unfortunately, she had to cancel due to her conflicting filming schedule in Toronto. What are the odds?!
MEGACON was jam-packed with fan favourites and I got to see a few more celebrities at their booths. You may have seen Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Superbad, Kick-Ass (for which I auditioned!) or Neighbours. Kate Micucci has a very recognizable voice and I’m glad I was able to capture her laughing while talking to a fan. George Newbern’s character Charlie literally gave me nightmares when I watched Scandal during the pandemic. So, it was a relief to see how friendly he is in person and he was nice to wave to me. Ben McKenzie from The OC was there too, plus Yuji Okumoto and Kristin Kreuk.
That’s a wrap on my MEGACON content. It was really fun. I recommend booking a hotel early if you want to hop on a plane to attend like me!
