Mae Whitman is one of my favourite actors, so it was fun to meet her at MEGACON Orlando! I was so excited when they announced her as a celebrity guest shortly after I booked my trip to Orlando.
I watched every episode of Parenthood and Good Girls! This marks the third actor from Parenthood who I’ve met after her iconic TV mom Lauren Graham and her cousin on the show played by Sarah Ramos. I feel like an honorary member of the Braverman family now!
I met the stars of Parenthood in three different American cities while on vacation in New York, LA and Orlando. There’s nothing like coming back home and surprising friends with the real reason I went out of town.
In addition to her lead roles in my favourite shows, Mae Whitman was great in movies like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and The DUFF. She has also popped up in Friends, Suburgatory, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and of course Arrested Development. I understand that she’s close with Jane Levy and hanging out with them together would be a dream!
I didn’t expect to meet Paris Hilton only two months after her son Phoenix was born. So, I also felt lucky to see Mae Whitman six months after giving birth to her first baby. She named him after her co-star Miles Heizer from Parenthood! Her sweater might seem like an odd choice, but Mae Whitman has advocated for women’s health since being diagnosed with endometriosis.
Out of the celebrities I met up close at MEGACON Orlando, Mae Whitman was definitely the friendliest. It’s rare that you’re equally excited to see each other, even though they have no idea who you are. The event felt like the meet and greet Olympics and I left her photo booth feeling like a winner. She was really enthusiastic, which reinforced why I’m a long-time fan.
