S Club Party In Toronto (Concert Review)

S Club Tour Toronto Meridian Hall

There ain’t no party like an S Club party so I partied like it was 1999!

S Club brought their reunion tour to Toronto and it was so fun! They delivered exactly what I wanted, such as by opening and closing the show with S Club Party so we could enjoy it twice. What a thrill to see it live and hear “Finally Friday night / Feeling kinda good, lookin’ alright” on a Friday night!

Meridian Hall seems like a comedy club, but they transformed it into a disco club. Someone behind me said “this is a weird venue” but I disagree. It’s nice to be close to the stage with good acoustics for a reasonable price! Plus, they have cup holders!

The setlist was perfect and the stage was electric with good use of levels. I also liked their all black outfits. No nonsense, no notes!

This 90s revival was about more than nostalgia. It’s surreal how I bought a Rachel Stevens Barbie doll and last night I saw her live! It’s also amazing how the lyrics flood back to you as if I watched their music videos yesterday and not twenty years ago on MuchMusic. I loved singing and dancing to S Club while surrounded by other ecstatic millennials.

I always thought my favourite concert memory was joining Bon Jovi fans to *raise your hands* but I think raising my hands for S Club’s song Reach might top it!

The band’s commentary on The Good Times Tour effectively summed up how we’ve been on a journey since they debuted.

“Do you remember the days when phones weren’t really a thing? You might have had Snake [game] and that was it on the phone. We actually hung out. We played together and talked to each other. We climbed trees. On a weekend we’d go play our favourite CD, like our favourite bands. This is just a trip down memory lane!”

Some music belongs in the past, whereas I could listen to S Club 7 over and over. Bring It All Back was one of my top five songs on Spotify Wrapped 2022 and it might happen again! If your favourite band from the 90s comes to your city, don’t miss out because it’s a rare opportunity.
