I love a good pop-up shop. Last year, Nestle hosted a space on King St. West where you could create your own Häagen-Dazs ice cream bar. This year, Nestle has created a space on Queen St. West where you can create your own Kit Kat chocolate bar.
The Kit Kat Chocolatory pop-up shop is all about temptation, so they convinced me to create a couple chocolate bars – one for me and one for a gift. Thankfully, I went at an off-peak time, so the lineup to design my own chocolate bars wasn’t too long.
When it was my turn, I was given many options to choose from. You get the opportunity to choose the flavour (white, dark or milk chocolate), ingredients (such as marshmallows or nuts), and packaging. You know how much I love customizing things with my name, so this was the perfect next step.
I should mention that each custom chocolate bar is $16.95 with taxes. Although this may sound overpriced, it’s important to realize that this is nothing unusual anymore. The custom cupcakes I’ve ordered for my birthday parties were not cheap, so it’s not surprising that these custom chocolate bars are a little bit expensive. Plus, they’re ready in about 90 minutes or less, which seems reasonable considering the pop-up’s popularity.
Kit Kat is all about taking breaks and going to the Kit Kat Chocolatory was one of the best breaks I’ve had lately. This is definitely one of the hottest places to visit on Queen St. right now, so head over there to make your own chocolate and feel free to tag me when you post!
Kit Kat Chocolatory – Details
423 Queen Street West (Toronto)
Monday to Saturday 11 AM to 8 PM & Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM
Open until June 22, 2018
Allergy Alert!
Kit Kat has always been one of my favourite chocolate bars, partly because they’ve been nut-free for many years. However, it’s important to take caution and carefully review the ingredients you’re interested in before making your own chocolate bar at the pop-up shop. These are not the same products you’ll find at the grocery store.
