Hotel Review: Le St-Martin Hotel Particulier

Hot On The Street - Le St-Martin Hotel Particulier - Bedroom

Montreal is one of my favourite cities to visit, right after New York, so I was excited when a family celebration led me to visit not only Montreal, but Ottawa too. The trip was made complete by good food, unique shopping and fun at the casino. The best part? Walking away a winner from the Michael Jackson: King of Pop slot machine.

We stayed at Le St-Martin Hotel Particulier, which is centrally located in the downtown core. Upon checking in, the front desk representative gave us complimentary cold water bottles, which was a nice bonus after a long trip.

Hot On The Street - Le St-Martin Hotel Particulier - Washroom

As soon I entered the room, I noticed the dark, romantic lighting. Aside from opening the curtain for daylight, you can’t make it very bright inside. A major drawback to the room is the window between the bedroom and the washroom. Although there are window blinds, it would be easy for one guest to prank another in the shower and expose them, without any chance to cover up.  I understand that this is a growing trend in Europe, but I am not a fan and I like my privacy.

Their amenities include a restaurant, exercise room and outdoor pool, but the restaurant was closed on Saint Jean Baptiste Day, the exercise room is small and the lounge chairs by the pool are uncomfortable. So much for tanning!

The hotel doesn’t skimp on anything that would take away from a luxurious experience for guests. The washroom has a relaxing rain shower and extra large luscious white bath towels. Plus, anyone sharing the room will like that the washroom in a classic room comes with his and hers vanity sinks. Putting chocolates on the bed during turndown was a nice touch as well. Fortunately, they offer a fast wireless internet service at no additional cost, which was appreciated as I needed to prep for my Perez Hilton interview.

Overall, it was a positive experience; however, I am hesitant to recommend this hotel to anyone sharing the room with a group. After walking by other hotels that I considered on Expedia, I can see that many are within walking distance to the attractions and restaurants I visited. If the price is right, I’d like to try another hotel next time, but I would still consider Le St-Martin Hotel Particulier.

Rooms start at $229.00. Ask for the discounted CAA package if you’re a member. Visit the hotel website for more information about rooms and amenities.
